Join us for the return of Grant Park’s biggest party.
For 30+ years Grant Parkians have donned their costumes, danced like wild things, and donated to their neighborhood association, raising funds to support our local non-profits.
And this year will be a blow out with an ‘80’s band, a drag show, and great food from Firepit Pizza Tavern.
Prevented from dancing by Covid, we are back with a vengeance and ready to be Footloose and Fancy Free. So dust off your 1980’s prom garb and get ready to embarrass yourself in front of your neighbors. Don’t worry, no one will remember in the morning.

What is Mothball? The Mothball, now in its 35th lunar year, began as a neighborhood potluck started by Grant Park neighbors who opened their homes to visitors during the annual Tour of Homes. The Mothball, which took its name as a parody of Inman Park’s prestigious formal Butterfly Ball, and has been moved to a Friday evening in October. The Mothball has a different theme each year. Past years’ themes have featured “Science Fiction,” "Speakeasy", "Studio 54," “Moulin Rouge” and "Mardi Gras". The themes should be broadly interpreted for the costume contest. Be creative!
